How we work
Methodology & editorial standards
A transparent standard for turning publicly available reporting into accurate, source-led case records.
1. Lead, then verification
A lead is not a publishable case. Names, convictions, outcomes, dates, ages and locations should be checked against the originating police force, CPS, court publication or another authorised report.
2. Public information, clearly attributed
Offenders FYI aggregates information already made public. Each case displays its source trail and last verification date. The directory is independent and is not a government register.
3. No invented classifications
We do not invent risk scores, surveillance status, aliases or allegations. Wanted notices must be tied to a current official appeal and removed or updated when that appeal changes.
4. Victim privacy and reporting restrictions
Victims are not identified where law, court restriction or basic safeguarding requires anonymity. A public source does not remove the need to review what can lawfully and responsibly be republished.
5. Corrections are part of the record
Substantive corrections, appeals and amended sentences should be shown prominently with the date and reason for the change.
