Paul Benstock, sixty-two, from East Ardsley near Wakefield, was convicted of more than forty offences following a Leeds safeguarding investigation.

West Yorkshire Police said the case involved five victims and offences committed between nineteen ninety-eight and twenty twenty.

One person first reported Benstock to officers, whose enquiries identified four further victims.

After a trial at Leeds Crown Court, a jury found him guilty of sexual and physical offences against adults and children, including fourteen counts of rape.

A separate National Crime Agency investigation also linked Benstock to the making of indecent images of children, and the jury convicted him of those offences.

He was remanded in custody after the verdicts and is due to return to Leeds Crown Court for sentencing.
