Ian Howard, thirty-five, from Whitley Bay, was jailed for six years after admitting burglary, robbery and possessing a bladed article.

Northumbria Police said a Whitley Bay shop was burgled in August twenty twenty-five.

Two days later, a teenager was robbed at knife point in the same town.

Detectives linked Howard to both offences and arrested him.

He admitted the charges at Newcastle Crown Court.

On the first of April, the court sentenced him to six years in prison, with a further three years on extended licence.

Police said the investigation brought together evidence from both incidents.
