Verified case summary
Christopher Dixon, sixty-eight, from Intake in Doncaster, received a custodial sentence after an undercover operation exposed plans for child sexual abuse.
South Yorkshire Police said detectives received intelligence that he was using social media accounts to discuss the abuse of two young girls.
Dixon believed he was communicating with an accomplice, but the account was controlled by an undercover officer using a decoy identity.
Acting on the messages, officers executed a warrant at his home and arrested him.
Devices were recovered that he had failed to declare under his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Dixon pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and five separate breaches of that court order.
Sheffield Crown Court sentenced him to nine years and four months in prison.
Police said the investigation prevented the plans from progressing beyond the communications with the officer.
